Marine Canvas Care & Maintenance
Sunbrella (solution-dyed acrylics)
Clean before any debris/dirt becomes embedded in the fabric. Brush or vacuum off any loose debris. Flush the material with fresh water then clean using a soft brush and a solution of ¼ cup of Woolite or Ivory Snow in a gallon of water. Rinse off the soap solution and then allow the fabric to completely air dry.
If a stain is difficult to remove add 4 oz of chlorine bleach to the gallon of mild soap/water solution. Clean the stain with a soft bristle brush. Rinse thoroughly and then air dry.
Once the fabric has dried it must be treated with 303 High Tech Fabric Guard to restore the water and stain repellency. Follow the 303 directions for best results.
Stamoid
Wash at least twice per year using a mild dishwashing soap. Clean using a soft bristle brush and a solution of ¼ cup Joy or Palmolive soap in a gallon of lukewarm water. Rinse thoroughly and air dry. Mold can be removed from the underside using a solution of ½ white vinegar and ½ cold water . Rinse and air dry.
Makrolon (coated polycarbonate products)
Rinse with cool water to remove any surface dirt. Using a clean soft cotton cloth, wash with a solution of ¼ cup Joy or Palmolive dishwashing soap a in gallon of lukewarm water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a high quality clean Chamois.
Never use any abrasives or tools that could scratch the polycarbonate coating. Do not polish as this could remove the protective coating.
Strataglass (or any clear vinyl)
Rinse with cool water to remove any surface dirt. Wash with mild boat soap solution using a clean soft cotton cloth. Rinse with cool water and dry with a high quality clean Chamois. Apply IMAR Strataglass protective cleaner using clean soft cotton cloth. Every two months apply IMAR Strataglass protective polish after cleaning.
Stainless or Aluminum tubing
Polish twice per year with a high quality metal polish.
Zippers
Keep zippers clean and free of salt. Flush with fresh water.
Snaps and Turnbuckles
Flush with fresh water. Once dry, protect with a dry lubricant.
Vinyl Upholstery
Keep clean, conditioned and covered to reduce UV damage. Remove mold using a solution of color-safe bleach and warm water (½ cup color safe bleach in a gallon of water). Scrub using a soft bristle brush, the rinse thoroughly with cold water. Air dry, then apply a vinyl conditioner such as 3M Vinyl Conditioner.
